About This Course

Kundalini is not simply an energy to be activated, but a force that transforms our bodies and our lives. Working with kundalini means encountering unresolved trauma, and deeply held patterns and conditioning. These are the same places we encounter when working with plant medicine, but combining the two can accelerate both our healing and destabilization/overwhelm. Because of this a good map of the territory is essential.

The map we’ll use in this course is rooted in the spiritual traditions that Kundalini emerged from (Kashmir Shaivism and Tantra), but will include other traditions and modern approaches. We will dig deeply into the spiral approach to healing/spiritual growth, where our lives are shaped by karma (past actions) and samskaras (our patterns), and where each layer is part of a larger unfolding rather than something to be bypassed or fixed.

This work matters right now because more and more people are encountering kundalini outside of traditional containers, often without any guidance or context. This leads to an increasing risk of spiritual bypass and fragmentation. Conventional psychological models, while valuable, are not comprehensive enough to account for the energetic and spiritual dimensions of these experiences. A more comprehensive approach is needed that includes the body, spirit, and community and the understanding that we are working with forces larger than the individual self.

Working with both plant medicines and kundalini (while challenging!) can also help us tremendously. At their core they both ask the same things from us. To stay present with discomfort, to metabolize trauma, and to balance our desire to grow with a need to move at a pace our system can handle. They ask for discipline, devotion, and humility, and a willingness to question external authority as well as our own internal narratives.

This course is for those who feel called into this work out of curiosity, as well as those who have had challenging experiences and recognize that they need a more nuanced map or framework. Energetically, it is for those willing to face themselves with honesty and courage and a willingness to see both their shadow and spirit.

Who This Course was Designed For

This course is for people who feel a real pull toward Spirit. Whether you call it Kundalini or by another name, it is something you’ve felt moving through you. This course is for people that want to understand it more deeply through both direct practice and grounded traditions. This is for curious souls, as well as those who have already experienced it through yoga, meditation, psychedelics or other means.

All levels are welcome, as long as you are willing to show up honestly and willing to put work into the practices. This course is not about adopting a belief system, but about stepping into something that will ask more of you than you might expect. Kundalini work can be destabilizing. It has a tendency to challenge our assumptions, reveal what has been buried, and disrupt our sense of control and identity.

This work is for people who are willing to stay present in times of uncertainty and intensity.  If something in you is stirring and you hunger for passion, authenticity and devotion,  this course will meet you there!

Course Leader Justin Levy

I’ve spent years immersed in the study and lived experience of these traditions, including deep work in Kashmir Shaivism through Siddha Yoga and the teachings of Swami Muktananda. I studied ayahuasca for eight years with a shamanic mentor who does not want to be named publicly (but I can discuss in private). Additionally, I spent seven years studying capoeira with Mestre Almiro, developing a relationship with the spiritual elements of Candomblé and getting direct experience on how movement, rhythm, and spirit intertwine. These systems grounded my understanding of altered states, discipline, and responsibility.

For the past 18 years, I’ve been helping individual clients with my own form of Kundalini-based bodywork. Over the last 15 years, I’ve taught classes at my center (Spirit House) that bring all of these threads together. This course is a distillation of that work, shaped by teachers and by my ongoing experience and community engagement.
