Womb Healing with Master Plants
By Seven Crow
The womb is more than a physical space. It is a center of memory, intuition, creation, and emotional truth. For many, this space holds not only life force, but also layers of personal and ancestral experience that have not yet been fully felt or released.
Master plants offer a unique pathway into womb healing. Through their subtle and intelligent presence, they help soften what has been guarded, bring awareness to what has been hidden, and restore a sense of connection to the body.
This blog explores how master plants support womb healing, which is necessary for women on the plant path, and how this work can lead to deeper emotional balance, self-trust, and embodiment.
What Is Womb Healing?
Womb healing is all the rage these days with various techniques and lineages. Having studied loads of internal and external massages from different traditions, I use them regularly in my practice with women and plant medicine.
In Chinese Medicine, Mayan Abdominal Massage, Ayurveda, and in jungle shamanic traditions, the womb is seen as a vessel rooting women into our power, grounding us in the Medicine Lands and Spirit Realm, lending strength and guidance.
As women it is incredibly important to root into this deep place within the body for emotional healing, cycle alignment (even after bleeding), deeper intuition, physical stability, and creative potential.
To do this means to clear stored feelings, memories, patterns, and ancestral wounding through somatic practices, plant medicine journeys, meditations, and hands-on work. Emotional and energetic processing invites a deeper relationship with the womb, creating inner awareness that provides reconnection with the body.
Why the Womb Holds So Much
We all come from a womb, whether we are born with one or not, and this first sacred vessel hold the memories of our mother’s lineages, passing through to us, while also providing the building blocks of our growth. As women, our wombs bleed in relationship with the moon cycles, and this process can hold great expansion, sensuality, creativity, and the potential of birthing life, but it can also hold ancestral and present trauma, stress, shame, pain, and uncertainty due to various circumstances.
Sadly in most cultures bleeding women and girls are taught shame around this natural and necessary function. On top of this, there can be physical imbalances which create pain, discomfort, or even the necessary removal of a woman’s organs in order to feel relief.
In the Amazon, as well as other indigenous cultures, there are practices, stories, foods and plants which provide balance and support to the woman’s womb. The cultural and religious conditioning women are taught about femininity, sensuality, sexuality, mothering, and the body can be out of alignment with what we feel or aspire to feel about ourselves.
When it comes to Ancestral trauma, there are lots of differing opinions about what this means and what we carry. My grandmother, and the other grandmothers I have had the honor to work with remind me that just because we have something passed on doesn’t mean something is wrong with us or our lines, or that it will pass on to our daughters if we do not finish the work.
Some lessons show up in a line when it is time to learn something specific, and to remember lineage messages are a spiral web and not a straight line. Working with the womb, physical or otherwise, means honoring the space that has held life, memories, and stories that desire to be told.
How Master Plants Support Womb Healing
In the Shipbo tradition, the womb is a power source of creativity and a gateway to the Spirit Realm. Women maestras fully step into their power when they go through menopause and stop bleeding because their energy returns to themselves, rather than flowing outward. There are womb practices coupled with herbs and songs that are solely for women to learn. The Taoist also believe this and teach qigong and jade egg practices to support the strength of the womb for future health and spiritual growth.
On this path it is incredibly important for us women to be grounded in our pelvic bowl to facilitate alignment, creativity, and peace of mind. Various plants help us through vaginal steaming, daily teas for nutritional support, or through plant diets to gain healing traumas or imbalances, gain allies, and offer lessons of support where they are needed. Plants have an incredible ability to soften protective layers and open areas that have been guarded from painful experiences.
Many women find working with plants internally and externally helpful in allowing grief, tension, or fear to move through the body, giving way to expansion and joy. When reconnecting with ancient wisdom from plants and women’s mystery traditions, we reconnect to intuitive intelligence allowing one to strengthen self-trust, body awareness, intuition, and womb space.
Common Master Plants for Womb Work
Ritual and relationship with Spirit are woven into everyday existence through offerings, songs, the way you cook food, or care for little ones. There are stories interlaced into casual conversations, over a fire, or when hiking to the next village high in the Andes. Even sharing Coca, the Truth Telling plant, has a phrase and meaning that carries cultural significance.
The more you understand that all of life is ceremony, and how you show up for it is the meaning, the more abundant your life is. Sure, the all-night medicine ceremony is powerful, but how do you show up for the dishes? This is a common question among the locals.
There are an incredible amount of powerful plants to work with to support the womb internally and externally. This can be done with teas, poltices, salves, tinctures, dietas, and yoni steaming. While I have listed a few below, please reach out if you have a plant calling to you and how we can support your work with this being.
Bobinsana
Is an incredible womb supportive plant that comes from the Amazon. She is a watery plant connecting your womb to the Dreamtime, fluidity, compassion, and your inner Maiden. Excellent as a nighttime tea or in one of our beautifully held dietas.
Rose
Rose is a Queen when it comes to connecting the womb and heart space, opening you up to compassion, the frequency of love, strengthening boundaries, and supporting sensuality. Excellent internally or externally.
Hibiscus
Has been used in Mexico, Central and South American to support the womb in birthing for centuries. An excellent blood tonic, she is also revered for her Divine Feminine powers, grounding properties, hidden wisdom being unveiled, purification, and supporting relationship unification. Internal and external use.
Red Raspberry Leaf
This amazing plant is another womb tonic supporting painful menstruation, reproducive health, and allowing for a smooth labor. Her spiritual properties feel like a Wise Grandmother Birth Keeper supporting your journey into the Medicine Lands and teach you about resilience.
Cacao
Or better known as Ix Cacao in the Mayan Traditions has a long history connected with fertility, birth keeping, love, and heart opening. I learned her ways from a Gutamalean midwife/birth keeper in the 90’s and the ways strong cacao was utlized in the birthing realm. Her physical and spiritual properties gear towards birthing the next layer of you with compassion. She has many useful parts and can be worked with in a variety of ways internally and externally.
Other feminine or heart-centered plants
Rosemary, Blue Lotus, Passion Flower, Nettle, Turmeric, Ginger, Chasteberry, Schizandra, Ashwaganda, and more are some womb plants to invite into your life with care and caution. PLease speak with me, a PMP coach, or another herbalist to better serve your experience with plants in a sound and safe way.
Each plant carries its own unique frequency and teaching, so you may not experience what the internet suggests, or what your friend received from a journey. Allow your experience to be unique to you.
What Womb Healing Experiences May Feel Like
When working with plant medicines in ceremony or diet, I like to provide womb exercises to women in order to deepen their connection to the plant, their body, and ancestral healing. However, sometimes it can be uncomfortable if there is stuck energy or past trauma.
The overall journey with plants and the womb feels incredibly powerful and embodied with breathing exercises, meditations, and journal exercises. Please note that feeling may surface gradually or unexpectedly, showing up as old memories, sensitivity to places, sounds, or people, and a desire to cocoon (or hermit in one’s own home or energy). You could also receive insights and clarifications to recent or past situations, providing you with new inspiration. All of this is normal.
Integration – Supporting the Womb After Plant Work
After deep work, the body requires time to readjust to the new information. Please be compassionate with yourself, providing space to new or even old activities, new partners (or ongoing), desires, and changes. Your moon cycle or womb space may change physically (smells, body fluids, etc.), and your sensitivity may be heightened. If past traumas have arisen, please contact a support person you trust and be gentle with yourself as old memories are released. Allow for your being to adjust to the changes, reach out for support, and welcome in the transformation with gentleness.
Healing as a Return to Self
Womb healing with master plants is not about becoming something new, rather it’s about an ancient tradition being remembered. It is about returning to a part of yourself that has always been there, waiting to be felt, heard, and understood. Through patience, presence, and relationship with the plants, this process can bring a deeper sense of connection, balance, and inner trust.
