Master Plant Diet Summary
At PMP, Master Plant Diets are our favorite way to cozy up with nature — potent, revealing, with a whole lot of magic. Rooted in ancient Amazonian shamanic practice, these sacred journeys can reshape body, mind, and heart; they’re intimate, sometimes challenging, and endlessly generative. Open to anyone from curious newcomer to seasoned practitioner, a dieta invites you to bond with a powerful plant spirit and travel inward with a small, supportive circle of fellow explorers.
Shamanic guides Kat Courtney and Faegann Harlow will lead an intimate group of plant-lovers in this month-long exploration of a cultural and healing powerhouse, the soft, sweet, mystical medicine of Hibiscus! This impeccably kind and heart-opening flower is the medicine of warmth, compassion, and unconditional love. Hibiscus is a gentle and soothing spirit, with a history of sacred usage across the globe, including Africa (ceremonial significance), Latin America (linked to festive holidays), and Southeast Asia (popular in rituals and even as a culinary speciality.) Hibiscus is revered for her multitude of physical properties, too - she soothes the body and the nervous system, uplifts and heals the heart, and brings us into peaceful alignment with our souls and authentic purposes.
We will be working with Hibiscus sabdariffa - the plant material is not provided but we do offer ethical places to source it upon registration. See below for more details about the unique and transformative properties of this stunning and sacred flower!
Here’s how the process will work: Beginning on or around Wednesday, June 17th, Kat or Faegann will schedule individual dieta openings with each participant, which happens through the power of song and intention. The group will meet for 5 total Wednesdays via Zoom, discussing the experience and sharing insights. We will provide a protocol document outlining food instructions and specific wisdom on how to work with Hibiscus as well, including the suggested recipe for brewing her tea, as well as creative ways to connect with her. In addition to only eating clean, organic, simple foods, we will all abstain from sexual activities, media, dark energies, and other distractions for the duration of the 3 weeks, and each Wednesday at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET we will meet on Zoom to connect, share stories, and learn more about the gifts Hibiscus has to offer through our vulnerable shares.
Kat and Faegann will hold the diets for all participants, checking in on the connection and listening for messages each morning and night. They will be also be available throughout the process for spontaneous support as needed, because we intend to go deep with this adventure! Diets will be closed individually on or about Wednesday, July 8th, 2026. The final session on July 15th is for integration.
Hibiscus’s Diverse Benefits
Hibiscus is a positively beautiful plant medicine with physical, emotional, and spiritual superpowers. She is an extremely important ally in multiple cultures, featured in medicinal rituals, rites of passage, holiday festivities, and spiritual dreamwork and journey work, among many others. Above all, Hibiscus is known as a remarkably gentle, kind, and patient spirit. She doesn’t push, she nurtures. She doesn’t intensify, she soothes. She is the perfect friend to bring into a body and spirit that is overwhelmed, stressed, and exhausted.
Physical / Medicinal Properties:
Cardiovascular: Hibiscus tea can lower blood pressure in people with mild hypertension (short‑term effect in several studies).
Lipids & metabolism: Studies suggest improvements in LDL/triglycerides and insulin sensitivity, and increased digestive ease.
Antioxidant activity: Hibiscus is rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols; which provide antioxidant and anti‑inflammatory benefits.
Diuretic & digestive: She’s a traditional mild diuretic, digestive tonic, and liver‑supporter.
Antimicrobial/skin: Antimicrobial effects have also been noted; and she’s used historically in poultices and topical washes for all kinds of ailments.
Emotional Properties:
Cooling & calming: Hibiscus is culturally and experientially used as a cooling, clarifying beverage that calms the nervous system and cools the body in hot climates.
Heart‑opening & soothing: The red color and tart, vivid flavor are often used in ritual to evoke heart or emotional clarity; many people report uplift and relief and a pronounced softening.
Ritual comfort: Tea rituals with Hibiscus function as containment practices — intentional sipping, warmth/temperature contrast, and repetition produce calming, reflective states.
Maternal nurturing: Hibiscus has a sweet, kind, and inquisitive spirit that feels very maternal, very encouraging, and impeccably kind.
Spiritual Properties:
Heart, love & emotional renewal: Her red blossoms invoke heart energy, tenderness, and reconciliation in many folk and contemporary ritual uses.
Feminine, fertility & lineage symbolism: Used in some rites of passage, fertility rituals, and as an emblem of the feminine principle in folk practice, Hibiscus is fantastic with womb work/healing, and overall feminine empowerment and cleansing.
Cleansing / offering: Used in offerings, altar work, and purification rituals as an accessible, fragrant, edible expression of gratitude and love.
Dreamwork ally: Mild dream‑enhancing associations when taken as a bedtime infusion. Hibiscus gently opens up the dream space and can even help soothe and pacify nightmares and restless sleep patterns.
