Rose and Womb Work: Healing the Divine Feminine
By Seven Crow
Since January 6th, 2026, the Planet Venus has dipped below the horizon, making her way to the Underworld, a journey very similar to menstruation, perimenopause, and menopause, as a woman’s energy goes deep within to recalibrate and transform. This planet makes a geometric rose shape in the sky every eight years, giving the flower cosmic significance. In many cultures, the rose is a symbol of beauty, sensuality, creation, and of the womb, linking the macrocosm of the sky to a woman’s inner landscape.
While the womb is a place of physical creation, it is also the source of creativity, spiritual insight, intuition, and discernment. Working with the womb’s alignment to the moon gives a woman a greater connection to her hormonal cycle, as well as reciprocity (Ayini in Quecha) with nature’s cycles. The rose, long considered a Master Plant, facilitates this process by opening the heart, moving the blood, and deepening awareness through dreams, emotions, and physical attributes. Linking these powerhouses together allows for the Divine Feminine to flow freely.
The Womb as a Spiritual and Energetic Portal
In Chinese Medicine, the womb (zi gong, Child’s Palace) is considered an Extraordinary Organ due to its physical properties, but also for the energetic and spiritual associations. The Bao Mai (Uterus Meridian or Vessel) is rooted in the uterus, running along the vagus nerve, and connecting with the heart, hypothalamus, and pituitary in what is called the Hypothalamic Pituitary Ovarian (HPO) axis. This connection is vital to women’s health via hormones and neurochemistry, but points to the significance of the energetic associations as well.
It is a center of creation, memory, intuition, and emotional truth with the ability to birth new ideas, projects, and concepts into being. Across cultures and spiritual lineages, the womb has been honored as the sacred seat of the Divine Feminine, seen in Taoist texts, Mesopotamian art, and Matrifocal cultures. Yet many people carry grief, trauma, and ancestral imprints in this space, often without realizing it.
The uterus is more than a biological function; she is a Sacred Temple that holds the memories of the Ancestral lines, is capable of multiple orgasms, and gives “NO” a home in the body. Womb wisdom has been passed down through generations in various lineages through practices such as the Jade or Yoni Egg, Mayan Abdominal Massage, Bao Mai Qi Gong, Moonlodge and Red Tent, herbalism, birthing practices, and sexual practices for pleasure, creativity and manifestation. Learning to work with your womb in connection to nature’s cycles supports a deeper spiritual life, inner guidance, and as a tool of discernment.
The Power of Rose & Womb Healing
Rose has long been known as a master plant of the heart, but her deeper calling extends into the womb. In Chinese Herbalism, she is called Mei Gua Hua, connecting the Heart, Liver, Spleen, and Uterus through its physical and energetic properties. Rose is considered warming, sweet and slightly bitter in taste, it regulates qi, harmonizes the blood, regulates menstruation, and opens the shen (spirit) up to flow.
Do not be fooled by her beauty, as she is incredibly powerful, spanning thousands of years in various cultures for her medicinal and spiritual properties. Used in food, medicine, beauty products, art, music, textiles, poetry, and in health, she is a Queen across the board.
Rose helps soften, open, and heal the places where pain and disconnection have taken root in the body. Drinking her in various doses in combination with womb practices resolves heartbreak, dissolves grief, releases fear, and induces compassion for oneself and others. Rose is the bridge between the womb and the heart, allowing emotions to move, love to flow, and magic to happen. Each rose color has a specific use to deepen a particular aspect of her extraordinary medicine, however they all overlap at the core.
What Is Womb Work?
As I shared above, womb practices have been around for thousands of years to support women through birthing, menstruation, perimenopause, and menopause. However, even if your womb has been removed or you didn’t have children, womb practices are supportive of maintaining healthy organs from prolapse, activating the libido, keeping tissues moist, releasing shame, suppressed emotion, and resolving trauma.
Ancestral work is very popular these days, and many Elders believe the needs of the lineage are carried in the womb, revealing themselves when the time is right. Working with your womb gives you the power to clear out stagnant energies, restore agency, pleasure, and intuitive wisdom. In matrifocal times and in many indigenous traditions, women were revered for the power to birth life, but also for the intuitive powers a woman carries in her womb.
It is thought that a woman’s full Medicine comes into being in her menopausal years after her moonblood (menstruation) ceases. The channel between heaven and Earth becomes clearer for the transmissions to come through from Spirit without the blood shifts (menstruation).
Practices That Combine Rose and Womb Work
Combining rose with womb work has many different expressions; some you could incorporate today would be:
Rose meditation: Visualizing Rose light in the womb to invite softness and release.
Tea or essence rituals: Drink the tea slowly, noticing where it goes in the body, what messages or memories come up.
Breath and movement: Gentle pelvic breathing or womb-centered yoga after a cup of rose tea.
Sacred ritual: Creating an altar or ceremony dedicated to learning from the rose and your womb.
My Story with the Rose Path
I began working with this powerful plant when I was 19 years old (nearly 29 years ago) with a Guatemalan midwife. She taught me the transmission of this being through song, ritual, and practice, how to combine it with cacao, and the importance of rose in birthing, all the while facilitating a deeper relationship with myself through this many-year process.
Each color had something new to teach me after a period of dedication, such as White Rose for grief, Pink Rose for self-love, Red Rose for sensuality and Sacred Rage, and so forth through the colors. In Chinese Medicine school, I understood her from an herbal medicine perspective, connecting the physical and energetic.
In the UK, I found churches and ley lines dedicated to the Venus/Rose alignment, while in Mexico, I met an Elder who taught me new songs and transmissions connected with the temazcal (sweat lodge), mushrooms, and cacao. In the Amazon, I learned that many are afraid of roses while others revere them.
In every place I have traveled, I seek out the Rose to teach me. She has healed my heartbreak, reduced my COVID symptoms, healed my womb, connected me to the cosmos, and deepened my relationship to the Goddess.
The Rose Blooms in the Womb
When Rose meets the womb, a sacred remembering begins, surfacing with wisdom long forgotten or suppressed. This union invites softness, truth, and the reclamation of feminine power that has long been silenced through an acknowledgement of her strength. Healing the womb is not about fixing — it is about remembering the sacredness that has always been there and allowing her to guide you.
